Could your organization use help in enhancing your technology use and functionality this summer? Would you like to provide FSCJ students (under faculty supervision) with an opportunity to learn about tech issues facing nonprofit organizations and contribute to the community around them?

At the May 3rd General Tenants Meeting, FSCJ Prof. John Vail (Network Technology) and I talked about potential service learning opportunities between interested duPont Center tenants and students in Prof. Vail’s 3 technology classes this summer.  Some examples of this might be to find a streamlined way for your staff to use multiple apps and programs, conducting a tech risk assessment, or providing workshops on how to use various tech tools. During the meeting, Sarah from the U.S. Green Building Council gave a testimonial on working with college students via service learning and said that her board members enjoyed hearing students’ ideas and networking with students.

If you are interested in working with us this summer, or have any questions, please let me know by May 15th (mary.rose@fscj.edu) and we can schedule a meeting to discuss further. We anticipate 2-3 meetings with you this summer to identify needs, check in, and share results. We are also open to service learning collaboration in the Fall 2017 term. I'm in the Center for Civic Engagement, Room 140, on Wednesdays through the summer, so feel free to stop by!
